Spring Softball has begun! However, the weather does not want to cooperate! I really shouldn't complain, as the south and northeast parts of the country are so extremely cold right now, our Las Vegas cold doesn't really compare. But, when you live in Las Vegas, your blood must thin or something, and mine sure has. I was frozen at the softball scrimmage. Thank goodness this game was at least at 2pm. Those poor people who went to 8am games!
I'm sure you know how it starts. First, I want to take a few shots of the dogs. So I'm going to get a backdrop. Now I need something to hold the backdrop. So I look online to find directions to make one. That leads me to eBay. eBay very kindly has lots of backdrop stands I can buy. The company that sell the one I want also sells packages. Because their packages are such good deals, I buy one. Two days later, this is what I get to play with....
This is without really moving the furniture. Once the furniture is out of the way, I can increase the size of the backdrop and the possibilities!
Crazy? Yes! Fun? You bet!
Do you ever have trouble planning a get-together with your friends? Is it just us? I'm guessing not. We love getting together for a Girls Night, but have trouble getting our schedules coordinated for a night out. For whatever reason, we have found these painting classes in town a great thing to do together. (And they have Groupon's all the time. Bonus!) The classes are three hours and designed for those non-artistic people, like myself. For a fee, they provide all of the materials and instruction. You show up, paint away, and leave with a finished canvas. Awesome, right?!
I think this is our fourth class. I feel like we are improving! If nothing else, its a super fun time and a great excuse to get together with these fabulous ladies!
I love how different, yet similar they are. I think it shows our personalities in the art (although hard to glean from the photo).
My girlie and I took a trip to the Magical Forest! Put on to support Opportunity Village, it features a walking path of lighting and decorations, along with food, a train, miniature golf, giant slide, carousel and this year a 3-D elf house.
Since it was just her and I, we traveled at our leisure. We had wrist bands to ride anything we wanted, but the lines were LONG. This was the first year she was ok with skipping the rides because of not wanting to wait in line. She thought I was bothered by that, thinking she wasn't "fun" anymore. I told her it made her even "cooler." Once I told her I didn't really want to wait in line for 30 minutes for a 30 second ride either, she had a big smile on her face. It reminds me that you never know someone's point of view until you ask. It's always good to ask.
The pictures aren't great because I just had my iPhone, and it was dark, but you get the idea. It was FUN!
With our 3-D glasses on, in the Elf House, taken in the reflection in globe designed to make everything "pop!"
It's our iPhone-selfie showing off my new glasses. Not the best lighting, but it sure makes me smile when I see it!
Chelle and I went to painting class at Design and Wine. It was so much fun! In three short hours, you start with a blank canvas and leave with a not-so-bad piece of art work. It reminds me of paint-by-numbers. :-) I love looking at everyone's painting at the end because they are all similar, but very different. This is the fourth time I've gone to a class like this, and I will go again. I get to be creative, hang out with friends, and not have any of the clean up!
Here's to walking out the door of work today and in to a nice, long Thanksgiving weekend! I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing, enjoyable Thanksgiving! Can't wait to post pictures from my weekend - but will have to wait until Sunday when I get internet signal again. :-)
Love a fun trip to Target! We were on the hunt for construction paper for a school project for my girlie, and ended up walking through the Christmas section. Huh, wonder how that happened? hehe
I was even the crazy lady carrying around my big Nikon camera too. My girlie had me put it in my purse and only take it out while I was snapping these pictures. :-)
I loved it. Being it's so dark so early at this time of year, I might be taking pictures at stores more often! The light was great at Target!
I finally found my Eye-Fi memory card that I have been looking for... oh, for about a year now! Yay! My hubby was helping me get my iPad set up so pictures I take with my DSLR camera upload directly from my memory card to the iPad - full screen! Very cool. He took some practice shots to see if the app was working, and guess who was close by to photograph - me! :-) I don't get in front of the camera much, so maybe this is something I'll work on during this project....
Wife, Mom, Teacher, Tech Coach. I love to try new things. I'm hooked on baking, photography, scuba diving, and more fun stuff yet to be discovered!
